In 1908 Attorney General Charles Bonaparte founded the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) It wasn’t always known as the FBI, at first Attorney General Charles Bonaparte did not name the organisation he created.
It was referred to as a “Special Agent Force” or as Attorney General Wickersham called it Bonaparte’s “Force”, but this investigative team at the time had only 70 employee’s, that’s opposed to over 30,000 worldwide to date (2009).
In 1909 it was named the Bureau of Investigation (BOI) but this name wasn’t meant to be, so in 1913 – 1933 it was re-named to the United States Bureau of Investigation (USBOI).
