The Big Feature is a Photography and Art Blog.
I will be showing my favourite photographs from my collection as well as having fun with photographic projects and digital art work.
My love for photography began in 2006, I had gone for the usual boring walk with the family to the same old spot, Consumed with boredom my husband came up with a family game to make the walk more interesting.
He pulled a camera out of his pocket and set myself and the kids a challenge of who could take the best photograph.
My love and passion for photography began that day and I haven’t looked back since.
At first Photography was a hobby the whole family partook in, but my children have grown up and flown the coop, moving on with interests of their own.
We originally had a family photography blog where all our picture were on display, but over the years it has become dominated with images I have taken.
I’ve come a long way in 5 years, I’ve had more practice at photography and have got better at taking photographs, the original family blog had run it’s course, I felt I needed a Photographic Blog that I could show my best photos of the picture I’m proud of.
They wont necessarily be perfect, but they will be pictures that make me happy for what ever reason.
I’m a proud amateur Photographer and pretend to be nothing more, I love the personal challenge of Photography and I’m not interested in photographic snobbery. This site is by an amateur photographer, where other amateurs can come and feel at home, comfortable in the learning process and be able to see another amateurs work, Someone who knows nothing about the technical perspective of photography and is still in the learning process themselves.
Shutter speeds, exposure or SLR cameras go’s right over my head. I prefere to (as I call it) take my photographs on the fly, no set up, no preparations, just pure enjoyment with the excitement of anticipation to see what I captured on film when I get home, I don’t care if my horizon is wonky, the colours all wrong, it’s not in perfect focus, or theirs a part of someones head missing in a portrait picture
.
Life’s not perfect and neither is photography, if I like it, it goes on my Big Feature Blog no matter what, the term picture perfect baffles me, if seeing is believing then no picture can or should be perfect if it is to portray the truth.
I take my pictures on the move, usually while out walking with my husband, I don’t have time to hang around which means the settings I use on my camera are usually the automatic scenes technology.
I don’t have time to set up an instant Photograph while I’m out enjoying the world around me, most of my pictures are of nature which would result in by time I’d finished setting the camera for that studio perfect picture, the moment would be long gone, but I do want to learn More about Photography for when I do want a more professional feel to a picture.
My plan is to learn more about my cameras settings as I set myself fun projects, covering different subject matters for this on this photography blog and I hope you will join in with the projects too.
I’m also using this blog as a perfect excuse to learn how to use photographic computer software, I’m not a tech head so this will be a challenge. I don’t generally mess about with my photos I like to leave them how I took them, but the main emphasis of the big feature blog is to have fun.
Point, Shoot and simply have fun is the motto for the photographic Big Feature Blog.
: None of my photographs or art work are to be used without my strict personal permission, all works on this blog are copyrighted (you would have to be off your rocker to steal an amateur’s work when there are professionals photographers in the world ‘LOL’
).
