The Basking Shark (Cetorhinus maximus) is the second largest living shark (after the whale shark) it is notorious for it’s massive gape and generally harmless nature.
The basking shark is a cosmopiltan species found in all the worlds temperate, oceans.
It is very slow moving and filter feeds plankton and small ocean life, and in order to sustain it’s giant appatite the Basking shark has to filter through the size of an olympic swimming pool every hour.

The Basking shark has gained it name for it dwells near to the surface of the water where it is warmed by the sun and is more comfortable to feed from.
